Bring on 2010!

Good bye 2009! And hello 2010! It even sounds cool twenty-ten! Futuristic. I'm still waiting for my flying car that folds into a briefcase like in The Jetsons. However I will settle for new and exciting personal developments in 2010. I have recently received my Associates Degree in Communications (finally), and will be transferring to GVSU in 2010. No idea how long it will take me to get my Bachelors, two or three years. However, I'm most excited for my resolutions.
Americans spend all November and December worshiping and glorifying an obese jolly man, leaving him out c
ookies and milk even though obesity is the second most preventable cause of death in America (second only to smoking). Now I know, Santa wasn't always fat, we have Coca-Cola to thank for making him that way, in more ways than one! But now is the time when the entire country stands up, wakes up and proclaims, "DEAR GOD! What have I been eating over the last three months?" We all vow to change, even though by February most people will have faltered. I'll admit, I've done it in the past, but last year was different. I decided to make a change mid January and I did. I rejoined Weight Watchers and through lots of hard work, complaining and excitement I've lost 36 pounds in 2009. This is nowhere near goal, but I want to kick it into high gear this 2010, and more than double those numbers. There are no more excuses, no more complaints... ok there will always be complaints, but I'll push through it! It's the year of the Tiger! Let's kick 2010 in the ass!

Christmas has come and gone. Had a blast with Mom and Dad, and got some amazing gifts! Because of the ridiculous ice storm, Christmas with Grams and everyone will be celebrated a day late. However, being snowed (or rather iced) in has some advantages. Lots of cocoa, and movies and building of gingerbread houses!

Also, I love the after Christmas sales! Torrid started one today, all clearance items are an additional 50% off! Hooray! So I did a little me shopping!

Above and to the left are my purchases! Whole shebang was about $50 plus shipping. Not bad if I do say so myself...and I do!

Well that's enough for me! I have reading to do, and preparations for the next busy busy semester!

More cooking!

Ok, I cooked Chicken Pad Thai, from a Weight Watcher recipe. I couldn't find Asian Fish Sauce, or Chili-Garlic Sauce, but I did find a Pad Thai sauce which I used instead. Turned out surprisingly delish! In fact Dad kind of stole some from other people haha!

Up next is a Skillet Mac n Cheese for lunches mmmm! Comfort Food!!!

Oh how I love cooking!
Didn't used to, but I adore it now! I want to try a new recipe every week, especially seeing as I'm living with the parents so they can be my guinea pigs and try it out.
Last weekend, I made a new Weight Watcher recipe for Sliced Steak with Crispy Polenta. It was AMAZING! Super easy to make to!
Here is the youtube video! Feel free to ask any questions!

Next up: Chicken Pad Thai!

Long time no blog

I haven't blogged since mid-September! Holy cow!
What does a holy cow look like anyways?
Ok well I here by vow to try and blog more throughout the new year! Even if it's one blog a month! Something! I miss it!
Ironically, I blog more when nothing is going on because I have so much free time, but now that I'm super busy, there's no time to blog!
I still vlog on youtube ALL the time. So I'll have to post those on here too.
Ok sorry, not sure if anyone actually reads this anymore but I'll be on here more I cross my heart!

Verizon screwing me over

Let me tell you about Verizon!

Back in July my phone shut itself off and quit working. I went in to the store and they had to order me a new phone. It took a few days, and I while I was there I asked the guy who helped me "do I need to return my old phone?" He said no. So I kept it. Then my replacement phone came and it was broken. They sent me a new one. I asked the SAME guy and of course was told not to return the broken phone. Well I kept the original because it has my personal info on it. The other phone, I recycled because I wanted to do good for the environment.

So imagine my surprise when I get my balance today, in September, and its $964! Yes, apparently I was charged for never returning those 2 replacement phones.

I called and spoke to 3 different people including a supervisor. I can return the original phone and have the charge refunded. However unless I return a phone, I don't get money back. I've tried telling them that I was told not to return them so its not my fault. I had finally go into the store and try to find the person who told me not to return the phones.

Turns out, this guy was brand new from Alltel and was "learning the ropes." I have to wait until they talk to him and HOPEFULLY he'll fess up and say he messed up in telling me that. If not, I don't know what happens. So I will hear from them tomorrow.

Regardless, unless Verizon seriously changes their tune, and steps up in the customer service area of the business, I'm canceling my line and switching to a new plan. I've had them since 2004 and just recently I've had problems.

It only takes one serious screw up to lose my trust forever!

Update on school and weight loss

So I'm sitting here in my classroom, but no class. My geography prof apparently decided not to be here the first week which leaves me with a GIANT hole of free time before my next class starts. Good thing I brought my laptop charger!

So lets do a quick run down thus far of my classes.

Business Advertising: Prof is pretty cool, I still need the book. Brand new its $200 but I found out I can rent it for $90. Might be worth it, not sure.

Weight Training: Instructor is...hot lol Class seems awesome! We get to design a workout regime for ourselves and should be running a 1.5 mile run at the end of the semester so I'm excited!

Anthropology (Culture of Native Americans): Prof seems awesome, class seems really interesting.

Geography: I have heard that this prof is nutso, used to be a Marine lol

Journalism: Haven't gone yet, but the Prof is a hard ass. He'll tell you your story sucks but won't really say why so you have to wing it. Knowing this ahead of time will be good and I know I'll have to be patient. Psh I worked with almost 30 4year olds, I can be patient!

So yeah thats my week thus far! I don't blog as much as I used to but I am VERY active vlogging on youtube. Of course those vlogs really have to do with weight loss so I don't post them on here.

Weight loss is going great, I am down 28 pounds thus far, well I think 28.8 so almost 29 lol. I've been eating so healthy that I now crave fruits and veggies. I ate tons of junk food yesterday which is a total rarity for me lately and I kept thinking, hmmm not as good as I remember.

Well I will sit here awhile longer, and be the bearer of bad news to other students coming in lol. Parking is so ridiculous that a lot of people are just now getting in for the 9:30 class only to have me turn them away and say the class is canceled.

My desk just broke! maybe I should leave this room!

I love grocery shopping. Theres something about it. I especially love buying fresh fruits and vegetables. And then theres the unknown of what will you make with all of these items? After starting Weight Watchers I really started to enjoy grocery shopping. I'd search for all sorts of new healthy foods and then just the possibility of enjoying them and eating healthy. I love it!

I also love different packaging. This cheese reminds me of deli cheese you buy in a larger city.

And then just some new items. I've tried the cheese on crackers and it is delicious! And for WW one wedge is 1 point! Yum!

And then, here are my latest vlogs. I have been very active on youtube. I love my youtube family!

New show idea

The beauty of being best friends with someone for over 20 years is that you can start to like completely different things, and be down right opposites, and it doesn't matter anymore.

Kate and I met in first grade, and were practically twins. People often mistook us for sisters, even through high school.

But of course, after school people change. And we started to drift towards different interests. We're still best friends but I often compare us to the City Mouse and the Country Mouse. I of course, am the city mouse and she the country.

We often talk about how we both want to travel and see the world. However she would love to go deep into the jungles and although that sounds fun to me, I would also want to see the city and nightlife and experience the nice amenities that are offered.

So we've decided that we should have our own travel show. We'll go to a city somewhere in the world, and she will show the viewers how to rough it. Go out in the wilderness, eat bugs sleep in the dirt you name it. And I will show them the nightlife, shopping and amusement.

I think its brilliant. Now we just need lots of money to get this off the ground! This is my new goal to make come true. I need to work for Travel Channel or National Geographic Traveler.

High maintenance or just high standards?

I don't try to be difficult, its not like I woke up this morning and decided to be a total ice bitch. But unfortunately I am entirely way too picky. Ask anyone who has EVER asked me where or what I want for a meal. I never know but will shoot down any idea you present to me. I have to be in the right mood for burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches in general and numerous other items of American culture. Also, on an unAmerican note, I hate apple pie. Bleh cooked fruit is gross.

So of course today, while trolling Saugatuck with my folks, the question came up of where to eat. Nothing of course sounded good to me, I was hungry but no ideas. We went to a buffet. I then decided to inform them that I hate buffets. There is never anything I really like so its a waste of money. The food is made and then just sits there under heat lamps while gross people grab at it with tongs that I'm supposed to also use.

On another note, most meat disgusts me. I hate when food resembles the animal it came from. Don't put a whole chicken in front of me, or a pig, or a lobster. Crab legs I'm ok with, but not the whole crab. I don't want it to watch while I eat it. That's weird!

And I can in no way pinpoint something that will always sound good to me. Maybe pasta, or sushi. That's about it. I'm horribly picky and have somehow managed to become overweight. Interesting. I don't eat fast food unless mandatory or a direct craving.

So take me as I am, I'm insanely picky. I apologize but it is what it is.

New computer, and new thoughts

New computer, new blog its amazing. I got my first netbook notebook laptop, whatever you want to call it, I got it! Its a Dell mini and its fantastic. I originally wanted a laptop but they were so huge and expensive long ago. So, my first and only computer until now was a Dell desktop. I had it 6 years and it was a huge monstrous beast!

So here is my tiny mini!

And the inside:

I know there will be many many more blogs to come now that I have unlimited access to the internet, and typing in general.

I keep a journal, as I have for years but those are more personal thoughts. And I've always been able to type faster than I can write, my hand just can't keep up with my brain!

I also plan on using this blog for more school related topics, as I will be taking Journalism this year, finally!

Intro

So I was originally going to title this, "Is that all there is?" because of my constant complaining. I had other blogs I tried out, xanga, livejournal, and they always had my name of "socalgrrrl05." This of course harkens back 4 years ago when I moved to San Diego. Well, I am back in Grand Rapids, Michigan, but not sure how long I'll stay or for that matter where I'll go. I always seem out of place no matter what. Hence the MISPLACED.

Any of you who know me well will agree that I am a drama queen and have earned the nickname of THE Princess from my loving father. Hence the PRINCESS.

So there you go, I'm cancelling the other blog accounts, they are more for the 13-19 year old range of blogging about how second period english teachers gave homework for the weekend. And my blog will be about..everything and anything that pops into my random, random head. Enjoy.
